Campus-wide , at the Illustrious Morgan State University , young women have gone bare by revealing their God-given beauty . They've wiped off their concealer , mascara , eyeliner , blush , eye shadow ,etc and taken selfies with the hashtag #daretogobare , followed by their reasons for doing so. At Morgan , on any given day , you can catch me as well as other young ladies with a "beat face" . Im talking about eyebrows on "fleek" , face highlighted and contoured. However , for the past few weeks , we've taken a new approach by showing our followers our beautiful faces in what i'd like to call the most vulnerable state possible. Many women have flaws , and its not uncommon for some to use makeup to cover them. We all have to learn to love ourselves more in the natural state and accept that we were hand-crafted with wonderful imperfections. Makeup is cool , everyday I fill in my eyebrows , if nothing else. However , today when I decided to go out barefaced , I felt so beautiful and so many people turned their heads to see as well. I even had a friend say to me , "you are very pretty without makeup"( I tried hard not to laugh). Damn that felt good .
Don't get me wrong , I'll always love makeup , but this challenge has boosted my self-esteem and made me to become aware of my true beauty again.
I have small lips , a gash near my left eyebrow , a few scars , beauty marks , and cheekbones that are higher than most all of which I've learned to embrace.
Although the challenge on our campus is over , I challenge everyone to " Dare To Be Bare" and love thyself QUEEN!
Oh thats me up there !
Thank you to the Black and Gold Royal Court for challenging me to become a greater me , and loving myself fully !
