Almost a week ago , I was moved to begin the hashtag , " f*ck your crop rules" , and excuse my french but it gets better.
During a morning scroll , I came across a tweet of a young lady body shaming others and encouraging them to , "start wearing a waist trainer with your out of shape a**" . I couldn't stand to allow a fellow sister to make others who are blessed with a little more or a little less, feel like they weren't worthy of being considered beautiful . Quite frankly , i am tired of society and the media tearing down women of all shapes , colors and races , telling them that they must be this or that to be valuable or that they cannot wear what they like .
Following my rant and reading the user for filth ( for my Housewives of ATL fans) , I took the initiative to upload pictures of my not-so-size-2 figure in crop tops , which happen to be my favorite type of shirts. Granted , I may not have the flattest stomach , I may have stretch marks , and love handles but I've learned to never allow anyone to make me feel ashamed of who I am . I feel that it is our duty to keep the body positive attitude going in our groups . And so , hundreds of women young and old joined in to embrace what their mama gave them.
There were times that I went to the doctor and was told that I was obese and I could have cried because of fear that I was becoming unattractive and my weight was out of control . I also remember that one time I told one customer at my job that she looked good after a weight loss and she cried because she'd learned to love all of her extras and add-ons . We should all take the time to examine ourselves and for everything "wrong" , name something perfectly right with us. This is important because if you make changes to yourself because of what THEY say , you can't possibly love you for who you are.
No, #F*ckyourcroptoprules was not created to endorse unhealthy eating or habits , it was created because it is constantly a battle to believe that you are beautiful where there is a set standard.
RESPECTFULLY , F*ck your crop top rules.
To all of the ladies who participated in this hashtag , THANK YOU .
You are Courageous , Strong , Powerful , Resilient , and Beautiful.
